Hi friends, I'm Juan!
We’re ready to do this!
My family grew up with the story of Ollantay, and my mom often told it to me as a bedtime story. While I was born and raised in the foothills of Denver, CO, my family has always treasured our Incan and Quechuan culture.
As I got older, I only had hazy memories of the story, but when it came to naming my wedding videography business, my mom pulled this old book off her shelf and read me the story again in Spanish.
It’s a story of battles and heartache, finally followed by triumph. It’s about finding the person you were meant to be with in the end.
When my mom read me this story again, I knew THIS was what I want my wedding films to convey: you and your person eternally, deeply in love. The kind of love that always finds a way. It’s why centuries later, Ollantay is a story that continues to resonate in my Peruvian culture and beyond.
At Ollantay Films, I know every love leaves its own legacy, and they’re worthy of being immortalized on film forever more.

While digging deep to find a way to support myself, my wife and our pups, I decided to trust my gut and build my own videography business from the ground up. Before COVID, I had filmed weddings here and there. But, now the pressure was on.
It was absolutely terrifying, but also incredibly exciting. Through networking with Denver wedding vendors and client referrals, I was able to pursue my passion full-time just 8 months after being laid off.
To this day, the camera my wife gave me sits in a place of honor on my desk as I spend hours editing epic love stories for my couples. I am so grateful for the road that led me to find my true calling.
COVID HIT & I WAS LAID OFF

Fresh out of college with a new job at a local marketing agency
Between adventuring out in the mountains with my camera and creating silly Youtube videos with my friends, filmmaking quickly became a creative medium I was passionate about. I fell in love with how I could connect with others on a deeper level and tell people’s stories. The way they tell stories in ways photographs simply can’t: the music and motion, how goofy you danced, how you laughed, how voices crack with emotion. It all comes flooding back.
At the time, I was still majoring in Business. But as my love for cinematography grew, I knew Business wasn’t meant for me. Turning to the course catalog at my university, I found that the Communications major offered classes in digital content creation and production. It was the signpost I needed, and two years in, I switched majors. It felt like I was running down the road less traveled, but for me, it truly did make all the difference.

My videography story began in 2015 during my sophomore year in college. My girlfriend (now wife) gave me an unexpected gift: my very first camera.
